Aromaticas Santa Luzia - herbs in Portugal

Lincolnshire Herbs, for over a year now, has been involved in helping to set up a potted herb business in Portugal. How did we get involved? Patrick, our MD worked with Ziad Barazi in Tenerife, Spain 20 years + ago, growing chrysanthemum cuttings and flowers. Ziad moved to Portugal 15 years ago and set up a flower nursery. In the autumn of 2008 Patrick received a phone call from Ziad asking if he had any ideas for a new crop he could grow. Roll forward to January 2010 and the first Portugese potted herbs were for sale in Portugese supermarkets.

Lincolnshire Herbs has and continues to provide technical support to Ziad and his team, making sure that Ziad grows and supplies the best quality herbs possible. Steve Helm our grower makes regular visits to Portugal at the moment to help fine tune the quality and give advice. Theresa Belatro, our Assistant Harvesting Team Leader (who comes from Oporto, Portugal) has made numerous visits to Ziad's nursery training staff on the more practical aspects such as harvesting, quality control etc.

Aromaticas Santa Luzia, although a very young business, is already successful, bringing a new product concept, fresh potted herbs, to the Portugese market. Our involvement has contributed to Aromaticas Santa Lucia producing herbs to very high standard right from the very beginning and avoiding a lot of the mistakes that a new potted herb company could make.

So we are very proud of our connection to 'Aromaticas Santa Luzia' and its success. If you see potted herbs on sale in Portugal when you are on holiday remember the Lincolnshire Herbs connection!
